Abstract |
Public interests in beauty care are discussed as a part of important issues, regardless of era, gender and age, and as our living environment becomes more abundant than before, the outer appearance becomes considered one of most critical factors in direct association with our quality of life. With regard to such recent trends, particularly, acne is one of most common skin problems and involves discussions on why it is important to do daily acne care, because it is characterized by high prevalence and recurrence rate as well as difficulty with perfect cure. So knowing about development and degree of acne is important. The results of this study can be outlined as follows. Most respondents answered that they had acne formed on their face or body; most of their acne cases first occurred at age of 14 to 16; they had irregular ongoing cases of acne over 3 years; and most of acne conditions were characterized by red acne(papule). Overall, it was found that our respondents scored 18.34 points on average out of full 25 in the knowledge about acne, which showed that they had relatively high level of knowledge about acne. In particular, it was found that certain respondents including at 20- to 29-year-old women and persons with combined skin type had higher level of knowledge about acne than other respondents. This study has significance in a sense that it provided reference materials to develop more satisfactory and effective acne care methods and related care program for our contemporary people who has acne and also provided data helpful for marketing of acne program. |
