The purpose and significance of this study is to explore the development of make-up as art and the extension of creative area by examining the interrelation between Dali, a surrealist artist, and make-up, and to provide an opportunity to create rich artistic expression and improve the plasticity of make-up 3D illustration and various expression techniques by grafting the motive reconstructed in the world of works and expression techniques of painting works of Dali who provided many motives of art works into make-up 3D illustration in attempt of the creative idea and development. This study examined the theoretical backgrounds of surrealism and Dali`s world of art and attempted to express creative and formative design with the expressive characteristics found in his painting as its motive. Dali`s painting works which showed automatist characteristics of nihility and fantasy were selected, and distinctive expression elements found in each work were analyzed and reconstructed using the methods of transformation, extension, and simplification. The actual work was expressed by applying the shape of objects interpreted in Dali`s painting and a number of surrealistic techniques expressed in strong colors. The methods to express works included illustration breaking stereotypes, body changing the location, and fantastic make-up. |
