| Abstract |
|
The object of this study is to examine the acne recognition and stress on female high school students. A total of 438 female students at S girls` high school in Seoul are included in this study. We could divide them into two groups: Acne group (319 students) and Non-acne group (as a control, 119 students). The results of this study are as follow. Regarding to the recognition foracne management, ``Acne was lessened under the sun`` (p<0.05), and ``Coffee and chocolate worsen the acne``(p<0.05) were statistically significant, which mean that Acne group showed higher recognition for acne management than that of Non-acne group, comparing two groups. In addition, in terms of the recognition for acne development, ``Dyspepsia or constipation is likely to cause acne`` (p<0.001) and ``Acne is developed only under oily skin`` (p<0.05) were also statistically significant, which mean that Acne group showed higher recognition for acne development that that of Non-acne group, comparing two groups. Besides, regarding to the recognition for acne aggravation, ``If black head acne is not removed, it becomes lentigo`` (p<0.05) and ``Acne is worsened during premenstrual period`` (p<0.05), which mean that Acne group showed higher recognition for acne aggravation than that of Non-acne group, comparing two groups. Also Acne group reported that they are more stressful than Non-acne group (p<0.01). The coefficient of correlation for each student`s stress indexes are as follow. Between family and friend, the r=0.38 (p<0.01) and between family and figure, the r=0.37 (p<0.01), which was static coefficient correlation. Between friend and figure, the r=0.36(p<0.01), between friend and academic grade, the r=0.41(p<0.01) and between figure and academic grade, the r=0.54(p<0.01), which showed static correlation among stress items. As a result of this study, over 70% of female students regard their acne as very serious condition. However, the wrong information and knowledge for acne could cause side effects on their skins. Therefore, it is necessary that the school education should complement hygienic curricular course, also, it is considered that the teenagers must experience very stressful conditions, particularly their academic grades for university entrance. Under these circumstances, they can be very instable from various emotional factors, which should be minimized and requires more attention to them. |
