A Study on Prevention of Damage of Hair Using Multi-use Facility(Jjimjilbang)
Eun-hyang Kim, Ji-hoon Cho
Abstract
As entering modern society, people used multi-use-facilities(Jjimjilbang) as methods for leisure and health promotion. As using multiuse-facilities(Jjimjilbang), users are exposed to dry, humid, and continuous-heat. But few research on hair-damage accompanying use. Therefore, purpose of this study understands degree of hair-damage by using multi-use-facilities(Jjimjilbang) and hair loss prevention methods. As research method, the one way ANOVA used to analyze whether there were difference in tensile-strength, elongation and absorbance depending on time and frequency of breaks. Independent sampling T-test conducted and analyzed to determine whether differences in tensile-strength, elongation, and absorbance depending on temperature, hair-drying, and wearing hair-cap. And morphological-comparative-analysis carried out through SEM. Results is following. 1. Healthy-hair-samples(KSH) showed differences in tensile-strength, elongation and absorbance at time(p< .001), tensile-strength showed in presence-absence of water(p >.05), and elongation, absorbance were showed significant-difference in presence-absence of hair-cap. Increasing time and moisture affects hair. 2. Damagedhair-samples(KSD) showed differences in tensile-strength, elongation and absorbance at time(p< .001), differences in tensile-strength at temperature(p >.05), and absorbance showed statistically difference in presence-absence of hair-cap(p<.001). Therefore, increasing time and temperature-conditions affects hair. 3. In physical-damage-evaluation(SEM) of all experimental conditions, KSH-KSD samples showed wet-hair got higher-damage than dried-hair and not using hair-cap got higher-damage than using hair-cap. Thus, there are differences in damage according to protection plan. Therefore, when exposing multiple-use-facilities(Jjimjilbang), hair-damage can be prevented by keeping dry or using hair-cap. Therefore, it is expected this study will be used as basic-data for understanding degree of hair-damage due to dry-wet heat and minimizing hair damage when using multi-use-facilities such as Jjimjilbang.
