Verification of the Efficiency of the Skin Improvement of Air Brush as a Homecare Device Using Whitening Cosmeceutical Ingredient

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of Niacinamide, whitening cosmeceutical ingredient, on skin pigmentation improvement and physiological activity using an Airbrush among homecare devices. Middle- aged women were asked to apply 3 mL of ampule containing Niacinamide 2% to the face twice a day, once in the morning and the other in the evening, for 4 weeks. The control group (C) was asked to apply using hands while the experimental group (E) was asked to apply using Airbrush. For C, most of the moisture content decreased and TEWL also decreased. For E, moisture content increased in all facial regions and TEWL decreased. Regarding color luminosity, the changes of L*, a* and b* in the left and right Lid cheek were not uniform for C, whereas L* increased and a* and b* decreased for E. As skin tones increased for both C and E, whitening function seemed to have worked. However, higher rate was observed in E overall, which showed a differentiated whitening function compared to C. The use of Airbrush increased the effectiveness of the moisturizing and whitening function of Niacinamide. In addition, repeated and periodic use of Airbrush contributed to the enhancement of capillary vasoconstriction and soothing of the skin. However, depending on the formulation of the sample, there is a need to verify the effectiveness according to the air pressure of Airbrush.
