| A Review Study on Psychological and Physiological Effects of Cosmetic Therapy Applied to the Elderly |

| Abstract |
|
This study tried to provide basic materials for further studies and working?level business by reviewing literature related to cosmetic therapy for the aged and identifying its usefulness. For literature review, 11 domestic materials and 12 Japanese materials were selected according to selection criteria and they were reviewed with focus on subjects, characteristics, program composition and application effects. It was found that most of qualitative statistics analysis using observation, one to one interview, survey, blood test and brainwave test. Contents of domestic program included make?up, hair dressing, nail care, foot management, face manual technique, stretching, body shape management, use of cosmetics, fashion and figure management. In Japan, makeup, nail care, hairdressing, massage and aroma were included in program. Psychological effects included enhancement of happiness, satisfaction for life, self?respect and pride, mitigation or reduction of negative emotion, challenging emotion and depression, increase of active and non?active pleasure, improvement of interpersonal relationship, enhancement of activeness in appearance management, increase of desire and increase of expression. Physiological effects included reduction of norepinephrine and Cortisol (stress hormone), enhancement in brain functions, improvement of pulse and blood pressure, increase of surface temperature, enhancement of immunity, enhancement of IFN? |
