Ran-bi Oh, Mi-ja Cho
Abstract
At this point when modern beauty design is becoming one area of formative art, nail art is expressed in the form of several areas and design with aesthetics of nail art is attempted multilaterally. The purpose of this study is to understand the formative characteristics of De Stijl and present the possibility of new design in nail art by applying De Stijl to nail art for the analysis. As research methods, we reviewed the theoretical background for De Stijl with a focus on prior research papers and examined the formative characteristics of De Stijl by applying them to nail art works expressed in the nail magazine as empirical research and then, made works. The research results are as follows: De Stijl was reanalyzed by covering the overall characteristics of Mondrian`s Neo Plasticism and Van Doesburg`s elementalism of De Stijl and elements expressed in De Stijl could be presented as a new direction of nail art design. The conclusion is to allow the nail art design using a broad style to meet the needs of customers and contribute to the development of the nail industry.
