Abstract

At this time when some academic areas are converging and areas of art have been expanding and changing, this study attempted plane work with hair by analysing the principle of grouping represented in Klimt`s painting. Through abstraction, imitation, and reproduction, such plane work was applied for my hair work to achieve an artistic field in bal art. There have been few studies on plane work using hair. Therefore, this study analysed the principle of grouping represented in Klimt`s painting and reorganized it for plane work using hair. As a result, it was discovered that the organic, symbolic, and geometric patterns in Klimt`s painting which formed a leading role in the art nouveau style were suitable as a motive for bal art. Fanciness and artistic beauty were expressed through diverse patterns and rich colors, and the cubic effect was represented through relief. All of these techniques could be satisfactorily used for plane work and it is expected that bal art using them will become a genre in contemporary art.
