Abstract |
Hairdressing is one of the most hazardous occupations for the skin. Contact dermatitis of the hands is a well recognized and frequently observed condition in the hairdressing industry. The aim of this study was antioxidative and antimicrobial activity of 5 natural substances (Phaseolus radiatus: P. radiatus, Capsosiphon fulvescen: C. fulvescen, Salicornia europea: S. europea, Caesalpinia sappan: C. sappan, Chamaecyparis obtusa: C. obtusa) and relieve effect of it`s mixture consisted spray. DPPH and SO scavenging were measured, and Staphylococus aureus (S. aureus) and Staphylococus epidermidis (S. epidermidis) inhibition were observed. Mixture of 5 natural materials were prepared and was applicate on dermatitis hand of 7 hairdressers in 4 weeks. In the result, DPPH and SO scavenging of the materials in 0.45~1.30 mg/ml and 0.21~1.6.0 mg/ml concentration was shown similar to positive control 0.1 mg/ml BHT and Vit C 0.1 mg/ml. C. obtusa ethanol extract in 50 mg/ml has higher antimicrobial activity by formation smaller size clear zone than positive control GM against S. aureus and S. epidermidis strain; 18 mm clear zone was found in C. sappan ethanol extract in 5 mg/ml that is larger than those made in GM 20 |
