Research Paper : The Actual Condition of Musculoskeletal-Disorder Subjective Symptomand Job Stress in Hair Dressers of Daejeon Metropolitan City |

Abstract |
This study had research subjects as 777 hair dressers who work in Daejeon Metropolitan city. As a result of grasping the subjective symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders according to hairdressers` general characteristics, the complaint rate of subjective symptoms was higher in the unmarried, in low weight and overweight than normal weight, and in smokers(p<0.05). In the characteristics of a working institution the higher complaint rate of subjective symptoms was shown in the more working hours(p<0.05). In the characteristics of the worker and the working environment, the higher complaint rate of subjective symptoms was shown in the more number of staff, the higher in a case that the height of a working table is high or low based on the elbow and in the larger physical and mental burden(p<0.05). As for the subjective symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders according to job stress, the complaint rate of musculoskeletal symptoms was higher in the higher stress of the job-demand sphere, the inappropriate compensation sphere, and the workplace culture sphere and in the lower stress of the organizational system sphere(p<0.05). In factors of having influence upon musculoskeletal disorders by body part, Job stress had influence upon subjective symptoms in the sites of arm/elbow, hand/wrist/finger, waist and leg/feet(p<0.05). In conclusion, the hairdressers` subjective symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders were indicated to have relationship even with socio-demographic characteristics, working-institution characteristics, and working-environment characteristics, and to have significant relationship even with the working posture as well as job stress. |
