Research Paper : A Study of Beauty Art Department Graduates` Satisfaction with Their Major

Abstract
This study is aimed at using results of a survey on beauty art department graduates` satisfaction with curriculum and educational environment as basic data for finding improvements of beauty art education. A survey was conducted about 350 men and women in their 20s-40s living in the Metropolitan areas from June 21 to July 30 last year. A total of 350 copies of questionnaire were distributed and 325 copies out of recovered 340 copies, excluding 15 copies containing unfaithful or omitted answers. were used for analyses as follows. First, a frequency analysis and a crosstabulation analysis were conducted to know demographical features of the respondents according to their majors. Second, an independent samples t-test was executed to know satisfaction of beauty art department graduates with their major. Following are results of a survey on beauty art department graduates` satisfaction with their major, curriculum and educational environment. According to results of an analysis of characteristics of students who chose the beauty art department, up to 182 of the respondents, or 56.0%, first learned about beauty art at professional private institutes and there were significant statistical differences following their majors (p<.01). To a question asking the biggest reason for choosing beauty art as their major, 149 of the respondents, or 45.8%, said that beauty art was suitable for their aptitude and there were significant statistical differences following their majors (p<.01). About curriculum, the highest ratio of the respondents were satisfied with improvement of theoretical knowledge after completing the courses (M=3.55) and there were significant statistical differences following their majors (p<.05). About the educational environment, the highest ratio of the respondents were satisfied with the overall educational subjects (M=3.05) and there were significant statistical differences following their majors (p<.01).
